It didn't have this patriotic energy in this film for the viewer which I liked because you get to see the difficulties of war instead of just the victories of one, like in Saving Private Ryan. If I had to see which group was the Ant/Pro in the film. I would say the Russian army and people were the Antagonist and the Nazi's were as the Protagonist, because the Germans were in control of those towns, but that's how I saw also made it nice was not really talking about the politics of why the Nazi's invaded Russia. But instead the methods and ways they took control of each town. This was showing the frustration and anger of how the Nazi's invasion was getting more and more popular for the average man "the Russian farmers in the story" to rise up and fight. Even if they didn't even know anything that was happening with their government to fix the problem, anything about what was happening in Moscow, or even anything that was happening in the town next to them, which I enjoyed. This film knocked me out when i saw it first, a descent into madness and mayhem with a continuous sense of unease and dread, sonething sinister building in the it does, in truly horrific fashion.   • Reviewed after a single viewing

As everyone else has already mentioned, this is an extremely disturbing, gritty, realistic, and impressive Russian war movie. Having a young adult (although by the end of the movie he is mentally transformed far beyond his age) as the main character was a unique choice for a war film and is just another way to make everything in this film seem even more shocking. And this young actor, Aleksei Kravchenko, is a perfect fit. His faces and movements perfectly display the extreme emotional turmoil that any of these situations would create. The writing and dialogue was a minimal part of this movie for me (although that could have been because I don't speak the language and had to focus on subtitles) but the message is easily communicated across any language barriers simply because of the bleak imagery and this feeling of dread and horror that I rarely come across even in legitimate horror movies. War is hell. I think that's the point of the movie and it definitely succeeds in showing that. There are way too many brilliant, memorable, but disgusting scenes of wartime atrocities, some of them bordering on surrealistic hallucinations (similar to some parts of Apocalypse Now) especially with the help of a very strange and unsettling drone/ambient soundtrack meant to simulate the confusion of bombings and shellshock. There are parts that drag a little bit, but not for long. Powerful scenes are spread evenly throughout the film and at the end the viewer should be left ragged. I certainly was. Some of the worst moments are stuck in my head whenever this movie comes to mind. Although this is a brilliant movie, it's hard for me to say I really enjoyed it, seeing as I usually enjoy lighthearted and beautiful movies. It was hard to watch but for all the right reasons. So on two different scales:

Enjoyment: 6/10 Quality: 8/10 Would I watch again? Of course, with the proper mental preparation haha.

The best movie in portraying the horrors of war that you could possibly watch, however this is one of those that you probably don't want to revisit again after seeing it. It's extremely devestading and realistically horrific, there's nothing sentimental, melodramatic or glorified about this where I would imagine most Hollywood studios would usually try to compromise and sugar-coat it in some sort of way. You have a realistic depiction of the atrocities commited in wars and in the core of all of this, the resulting descent into madness of a child soldier. I can endure and watch a lot of stuff without being too invested that I actually forget I'm watching something fictional on a screen, I'm almost most of the time aware that I'm watching actors portraying characters with a film crew on set. But this felt extremely real to the point where that conscious barrier between movie and audience was broken and it felt like those events were actually happening, there just happened to be a camera capturing all of this.

Vietnam war happened because the USA attacked their own ship in order to start a war with vietnam for political reason or some shit, possibly for oil, troll. Mmm. I've never seen such a poor quality of a movie. This guys voice is just absolutely terrible. It sounds like one of the Muppet's smoked crack all week before a recording. Absolutely terrible. And this rainbow wave and subscribe is too big and too much. You don't have to add a subscribe box for people to subscribe. Just out out quality work and you'll get way more subscribers. Фашисты такого не прощают. Через несколько мгновений, полная деревня людей превратилась в решето и чистое поле, на котором не наблюдалось ни одной живой души. Главный герой отправился воевать, когда был еще совсем ребёнком. Он в своей жизни всегда верил и надеялся на добро. Через четыре года он благополучно стал партизаном, но в глубине своей души также оставался таким же ребёнком, каким был на самом деле. Фильм не оставит равнодушными человека, ведь в ней рассказывается обо всех ужасных событиях, происходящих во времена тяжёлой войны.
